Free From Hunger, an outdoor exhibition produced by Concern and Panos Pictures, opens at More London Riverside

Free From Hunger, a new outdoor photographic exhibition produced by Concern Worldwide and Panos Pictures, opens this Wednesday 2nd October and runs until the end of the month at the More London Riverside near Tower Bridge in London, UK.

Three Panos photographers – Nora Lorek, Chris de Bode and Abbie Trayler-Smith – brought their distinct style to depict the issue of hunger in Liberia, Central African Republic and South Sudan.

Mads Nissen wins a PDN Photo Annual award

Mads Nissen‘s photobook We Are Indestructible, published by GOST Books, is a winner at this year’s PDN Photo Annual. The book is the culmination of Nissen’s work in Colombia, a country he has documented since 2010. It provides a portrait of a war-torn country navigating the complexities of newfound peace.

George Georgiou and Guy Martin shortlisted for Aperture’s 2019 Photobook Award

Two Panos photographers – George Georgiou and Guy Martin – have been shortlisted for the 2019 Photobook Award granted by Aperture in New York and Paris Photo.

George Georgiou’s book Americans Parade looks at the different communities that turn out for street parades across the USA, and has been nominated for the Photobook of the Year award. Guy Martin’s book Parallel State, published by GOST, on the current Turkish politics and social issues through the prism of soap operas, is shortlisted for the First Photobook award.

All the shortlisted books will be exhibited during Paris Photo and the winner in each category will be announced during the event. Click HERE to see the other shortlisted books.

As of 2019 there are an estimated 3.6 million Syrian refugees living in Turkey. In the city of Gaziantep in the south and near the border with war-ravaged Syria there are currently 500,000. The impact on Gaziantep has been significant. The city of 1.5 million people has grown by approx 30% since the beginning of the war in Syria.
