At this year’s annual Rory Peck Awards, held at London’s Saddler’s Wells Theatre, Panos photographer Minzayar Oo was awarded the prestigious Martin Adler Prize.

The award “honours a local freelancer who has made a significant contribution to news-gathering, either through a single story or body of work, but who is largely un-recognised by the international news media”. It was set up in memory of Martin Adler, a Swedish photographer and cameraman who worked with Panos Pictures throughout the 1990s and early 2000s and was tragically murdered in Somalia in 2006.
